Scotland Golf Vacations

Scotland Golf VacationsThe golf courses available in Scotland are some of the most beautiful and wondrous in the world. If you’re passionate about golf then you will definitely want to travel here. Scotland has over 500 different golf courses to choose from. The landscapes and backdrops are simply beautiful and breathtaking perhaps moreso than any you have seen elsewhere.

Opening to the public in the summer of 2008, the St. Andrew’s Castle Course is sure to be a favorite. The designer, David McLay Kidd, creator of Bandon Dunes on the West Coast of America, has created a typical Scottish golf experience. Each hole has a choice of five tees and the course will be playable between about 5300-7200 yards. Please note that you will need to play the course on foot. Carts are only allowed for golfers with a documented disability.

Wherever you are in the ancient city of St Andrews, considered the home of golf, history beckons and a noble past tugs at your senses. The St Andrews of today is a place of culture and entertainment, with a theatre, cinema, museums and a thriving night life. With its incomparable setting, its unique traditions and its welcoming people there really is no finer place to play or to visit than St Andrews.

Other fabulous golf courses in Scotland include the stunning Tom Weiskopf-designed Loch Lomond on Glasgow’s outskirts. Windyhil in Bearsden is another great course and is the home club of Scottish star Janice Moodie. Haggs Castle on Glasgow’s southside is one of the city’s finer challenges. It’s been host to a number of different amateur and professional tournaments.

One of the most enchanting countries in all of Europe, Scotland is a wonderful place to explore the dreamy, magical countryside, and is truly an ideal place to go for a golf vacation.

Enjoyable Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations

Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort Myrtle Beach SCWith so many wonderful places around the world offering great golf vacations, you may have a hard time choosing. One that you should definitely consider is Myrtle Beach, located in South Carolina. It’s considered to be one of the top tourist destinations in the continental United States with nearly 14 million visitors a year.

At Myrtle Beach they offer a variety of golf resorts and courses that you can choose from. Depending on your budget, you’ll find everything from casual to luxurious golf resorts.

Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort is a Myrtle Beach Golf Vacation resort perfectly located in the beautiful Litchfield Beach/Pawleys Island section of the Grand Strand. This location affords our guest easy access to all the sights and sounds of Myrtle Beach, yet still offers that secluded, “away from it all” feeling.

Litchfield Beach & Golf Resorts website has a convenient golf vacation planner. Select the “Golf Packages” link on the homepage. From there you select the golf package of your choice, which courses you want to play (and tee times) and which rooms you want to stay in. Availability is checked in real time, any conficts in your chosen dates/times are highlighted. The total price is displayed every step in the process.

I did a sample booking just now and chose the Myrtle Beach Signature Golf Vacation with a free round. From there I selected 4 courses to play along with dates and tee times. Finally, I chose a villa for my accomodations. The total price was $1021.

One of the four courses I picked was Arnold Palmer’s sensational King’s North Course. It was crowned ‘South Carolina’s Course of the Year’ back in 1996. Also it was ranked among the ‘America’s Top 75 Public Courses’ by Golf Digest. The famous island green features a sculptured bulk-head and ‘S’ and ‘C’ shaped sand traps. Forty-two bunkers line the 464-yard, par-4 18th fairway. But the most memorable hole may be the 6th, ‘The Gambler,’ a par-5 reachable in two with a courageous tee shot, 220 yards over water to an island fairway.

Again for my sample booking I opted for the Scenic Villa, which includes a full kitchen, washer/dryer, patio or balcony. Resort Amenities include: 3 On Site Golf Courses, Water Park, Health Club, Bike Rentals, Tennis Courts, Fishing Lake, Business Center, Private Beach Access, Day Spa and Starbucks with Wireless Internet Access.

Another ideal option for Myrtle Beach golf vacations is the Long Bay Club Golf Resort. It’s a fan favorite designed by golf professional Jack Nicklaus. This resort features a demanding 137 slope from the championship tees to a difficult 127 for the ladies, countless large manmade mounds, bottomless bunkers surrounding Long Bay’s small Bermuda landing surfaces. A striking horseshoe waste bunker on the courses signature hole, the 353-yard No. 10 has become one of the most recognized in golf.
